4TH OF JULY LINK-TACULAR pt. 1

EDITORS NOTE

I turned 40 last week. Its a weird number! While it’s officially over for any “the youngest to ever…” lists for me, I’m very excited for what’s to come.

Now officially in Unc mode, its a great time for some useful reflection. I’ve been officially obsessed with vintage sportswear for 20 years now. 20 years of being able to afford all the stuff I wanted as a kid, acquiring a majority of it, then selling almost all of it. 20 years of eBay snipes, haggling, steals, lowballs and good times.

Spending a somewhat concerning amount of my life yapping about old clothes has also affirmed that I wish the same for everyone.

I believe everyone should find something they love, obsess over and can talk about for hours. Everyone should get a chance to nerd out about their favorite thing with other diehards. I thank you for letting us do that here.

Now, onto business: This week + next week will be abridged versions of the newsletter. Look, it’s summer, we’ve all got a lot going on.

Today, we’re sharing an expanded section of curated links, sorted by league. This week? WNBA (All-Star is SO soon!!!!!) and NCAA (We’re less than 60 days from Football, get ready now!). Next week: MLB, NHL and NBA.

Also: The archive is updated. Check it out.

Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday!

As always, let’s have some fun out there.

HOMEFIELD HEATER OF THE WEEK

I almost went to the University of Oregon. Seriously. Applied and got in and everything.

The idea was, since about 85% of my graduating class was going to U of I(llinois) and the rest were going to various Big Ten schools, I would go somewhere different.. Per my dad’s advice that schools with good football teams had a better experience, I applied to schools like UCLA, Oregon, Arizona State, Texas, LSU, and my alma mater, Florida State.

I told my mom I got into Oregon and was thinking about going and she laughed at me for about 20 minutes straight. The idea that her only child would be thousands of miles away was truly laughable to her. Basically, that was it for my dreams of being a Duck.

Anyway, this jacket is so good that it’s truly the first time I’ve ever had a regret about not going to Eugene.
